Eco Poxy Ecstasy

Ecstatic is the best description I can think of for how I feel about Eco Poxy and here is why.

I have used a vast array of adhesives, resins and finishes over the years and most of them have been pretty awful environmentally and health wise.  I got headaches, stomach aches, dizzy, rashes and probably lost more than a few brain cells even though I kept trying to buy safe.  A couple of the products I tried didn't make me ill but they also did not work.  Can't even guess at the amount of time and money I wasted trying to find something that worked and wasn't nasty.
Enter Eco Poxy, wow, my adhesive prayers have been answered and its a great finish, stiffener and more.
Basic instruction for using Eco Poxy:
This incredible VOC free, BPA free 2 part EPOXY has been formulated for ease of use and flexibility of use so that it can be used on almost any surface. It is safe, has fewer odors than the majority of 2 part epoxy/resins on the market, and it really fun, easy and its versatility of use makes it cost effective.

Mix 3 parts Hardener with 1 part Epoxy. Measure by drops or in the cup that is included in the kit. The measurements are very forgiving so close approximation is fine).
Stir well with wooden stick until it becomes white (Mix very well.).
Let sit for 15 minutes
Pour or brush onto surface. Mixture will be very thick. It is possible to thin with water. Add a little water then mix well. Brush onto surface.
(If Eco Epoxy starts to separate or clump up when you are mixing after adding water, just continue stirring and it will smooth out).
Pot life is approximately 2 hours. As it sits it does start to thicken
Drying time is approximately 8 hours. This can be shorter or longer depending on temperatures, humidity, and thickness of application.
Incredible high shine, mar resistant, water resistant
Total curing time 1 week.
Soap and water clean up.
After using EPOXY for a while you will easily be able to “eyeball” the amounts measured.
You are able to decide if a thick coat or a thin coat is to be applied to the surface.
Extend the pot life by adding water to the mixture.
After 24 hours a second coat can be applied. No need to sand the first coat before applying the second.
Use as a coating or an adhesive/glue that has incredible holding power.

Photos using Eco Poxy to attach various metal pieces, most with very small contact areas illustrating how phenomenal this stuff is.

Rings with typewriter key, various gears, charms and watch parts attached.

Watch and electronic parts pendant on leather cord.
Glass tile with paper, microbeads and a charm.        More gears and miscellaneous "stuff" including   scrap chains.

Chunk of ESF dyed crochet with fabric center made into a brooch. Yes, ESF Colorants with FabricMagic are totally safe, no VOCs or nasties and can be used to dye or paint.

Glass tiles, paper and broken charms used for earrings.

More to come soon.  I have more pieces done to photo and will be trying out more techniques.  This gives you some ideas about how you can use Eco Poxy on your next project.

  1. Wow, Barbara - thanks for this great information. I love the look of resin but have hesitated to use it in art projects because of the environmental hazards. I want to try this!
