3 Dogs, One Named Lucky and Humans Who Care

I had a truly remarkable day today I want to share with you.

First I met Lucky. If you saw Lucky you could not imagine the name fitting her until you heard her whole story. Lucky was brutal burned as a pup with some sort of hot liquid. Her little body has lines, runs all over it where hair will not ever grow, she has one ear fused backwards and a hole in one eye…you pity this dog right away, heart breaking. Then, she comes up to you, happy, wagging, and sweet. This dear pooch despite whoever decided to torture her is the epitome of darling. I watched Lucky at the dog park and talked to her owner who is thrilled to have her. Turns out Lucky was injured in Taiwan where some kind soul rescued her, fixed her up and eventually sent her here to Washington where she is a vital and loved part of a family. Lucky is loved, adored and treasured. When you see her spirit you get it: feel bad for her scars and what they represent but her loving nature shines above them. Lucky’s momma told me she has gotten more love, support and goodness from Lucky than she could ever give back. What great heartwarming evidence in human goodness and the sweetness of an animal here under extreme circumstances! REALLY was wonderful to see their mutual devotion and how adapted Lucky was to the good life.

How wonderful the world would be with more people like Lucky’s owner.

THEN on my way home from the meeting Lucky I saw 2 dogs running along the hiway, scared, frantic, lost. I followed behind them, one car in between us, up a side road. Poor dogs were all over the place, disoriented and a bit frightened. I found a place I could pull over and got one of the dogs to come to me but the other was still crazy and almost got hit a couple times. I got the pit mix contained and was trying to get the other one when 2 teenage boys pulled up behind me and came to our rescue. These boys were amazing, cannot say enough kind words about them, real heroes. After some sweet talk and treats we got both dogs off to the side where the guys held the dogs while I called the owner, thank goodness one of the dogs had ID. Long story short we got the dogs in my car and delivered to their home safely. I could not have done this without these great teens that were kind, thoughtful and totally unselfish.

The point of all of this is; yes, there are brutes in this world but there are also many wonderful, kind, caring people and those fine people are who we should focus on and believe in.

Believe, it is a beautiful and kind world out there.  We just need to support those who are doing good, believe in the human spirit and stop corporate greed that inhibits that which is good in people.

Love & peace!

  1. Fantastic post. Often we hear about the need to rescue pets, but it's so nice to hear about the folks that do help them.

  2. My dear Barbara - your kindness is an inspiration to everyone who endeavours to be a loving heart. Not many would have stopped to care - let alone took the time to help. Without beings like yourself, our World would drown in misery & hopelessness. I will follow your example & I pray others too - will find the trail you blaze lighted for them to follow.
    With deep regard,
